Yeah thats gonna be correct if the new prototype tablet computer released in India by Kapil Sibal(the country's Minister for Human Resource Development) turns reality. The tablet has been designed by the indians from the scratch and has been priced at a mere $35. This could be reduced further more if the R&D department goes along with the project and when in mass production.
The Touch Screen Tablet at first look resembles Apples's iPad and even though not that branded and highly rated, this pc can also server the necessary tasks such as web browsing, pdf reader, multimedia, wi-fi and video conferencing ability.
The mother board of the device has been designed by students of Indian Institute of Technology. The Specifications of the unnamed touchscreen tablet is said to be as follows:
- Solar powered charging enabled
- 2 GB Ram
- Linux Based System
- USB ports
- Memory cards instead of hard disks
The XO-3 which was the closest answer to the latest technology education and awareness aimed at children in remote and rural areas to the networked hi-fi classes in cities would now have to recheck the option with this India's touchscreen tablet pc if released.
If found a manufacturer to make this device in the pricing refered by the developers, then the pricing may again drop, says officials. At these lower prices, i think anyone could afford this device and therefore there should be some manufacturers coming up for device atleast by the initiative of the UN ( for the better education of the kids in remote and rural areas). I just cant stop thinking about the advertisement in which an african kid walks along with a laptop like pc designed for kids and their education. I believe that was XO-3 in it. We can make that advertisement true with this tablet pc.
