Land Rover Starts Production in India by 2011

Land Rover is to start its production in India by 2011. They may most probably start the company in Pune by starting with the assembly of the model Freelander which is sold as LR2 in the US. The production of the vehicles in the country itself will reduce the tax to almost 60% which was earlier 106% when the vehicle was imported fully assembled.
The 2 models being sold in India are the Freelander and the Land Rover Sport. These models sold in about 100 numbers each in India after their launch. This would only increase their sales after setting up the new production plant in India.
So we would now see more of Land Rovers too along with the increasing numbers of Mercedes Benz, BMW, Audi and Volvos. India definitely seems to have a good market for luxury cars.
